{"id":450,"date":"2013-05-07T00:51:17","date_gmt":"2013-05-07T00:51:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/?p=450"},"modified":"2013-06-29T21:59:38","modified_gmt":"2013-06-29T21:59:38","slug":"gzgs-spider-drones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/?p=450","title":{"rendered":"GZG&#8217;s Spider Drones"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the last 2 weeks I&#8217;ve been working on 12 of GZG&#8217;s Spider Drones &#8211; 2 packs each of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/shop.groundzerogames.net\/index.php?_a=viewProd&amp;productId=1533\" target=\"_blank\">standard<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/shop.groundzerogames.net\/index.php?_a=viewProd&amp;productId=1688\" target=\"_blank\">rotary\u00a0<\/a>canon. \u00a0I paused in the middle and painted some other stuff, then my bases finally arrived from Litko, so I finished them up this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>I painted them all the same, except for the top, which I painted in a similar style as I did the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/?p=264\" target=\"_blank\">Grav Drones<\/a>\u00a0a while back. \u00a0Then I based them using Green Stuff.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/raw.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-438\" alt=\"raw\" src=\"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/raw.jpg\" width=\"900\" height=\"384\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cleaned and assembled. \u00a0There&#8217;s a bit of flash around the leg joints that I just left &#8211; it was going to be very time consuming to clean, and leaving just added to the &#8220;spider legs&#8221; effect, I think.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/primed.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-439\" alt=\"primed\" src=\"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/primed.jpg\" width=\"900\" height=\"338\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Primed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/stages.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-437\" alt=\"stages\" src=\"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/stages.jpg\" width=\"900\" height=\"238\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Various stages. \u00a0Here&#8217;s was my process:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 14px;\">Do the bottom parts of all of them with a rough coat of metallic silver.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>One at a time, do the metallic brass parts, then the black guns, the red lens, and highlights<\/li>\n<li>Wash the bottom in heavy black<\/li>\n<li>Paint the top<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 24px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/bases_raw.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-445\" alt=\"bases_raw\" src=\"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/bases_raw.jpg\" width=\"900\" height=\"429\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the bases in various stages. \u00a0Litko 0.8mm thick wooden bases, 30mm in diameter, with a Litko heavy duty magnet bottom under it. \u00a0Then I pre-cut the bits for the top of the base. That&#8217;s some metal mesh from the hardware store &#8211; I also use it to make chain link fences &#8211; and some square plastic mesh I got at the craft store in the knitting section.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/bases_pre_paint.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-448\" alt=\"bases_pre_paint\" src=\"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/bases_pre_paint.jpg\" width=\"900\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s with the Green Stuff &#8211;
