{"id":407,"date":"2013-04-30T18:19:12","date_gmt":"2013-04-30T18:19:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/?p=407"},"modified":"2013-06-29T21:59:38","modified_gmt":"2013-06-29T21:59:38","slug":"barbed-wire-barriers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/?p=407","title":{"rendered":"Barbed Wire Barriers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I made some barbed wire barriers, and it was pretty easy.<\/p>\n<p>I used:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">toothpicks &#8211; from my local grocery store<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">steel wire &#8211; from my local hardware store<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">rectangular wooden bases &#8211; from my local craft store<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">super glue \/ paint \/ basing material &#8211; the usual stuff<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 24px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/in_production.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-406\" alt=\"in_production\" src=\"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/in_production.jpg\" width=\"900\" height=\"456\" \/><\/a> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Take a 3 foot long piece of wire, and fold it in half around a pen or pencil. \u00a0Hold both parts of the wire and spin the pen in such a way that one strand wraps around the other strand. \u00a0So one stays straight while the other wraps around it. \u00a0When this is done, cut the loose ends off, and wrap the whole thing around the pen to make the spiral shape shown above.<\/p>\n<p>Cut 3 sections of toothpick. \u00a0I cut the tapered ends off and kept the middle part. \u00a0Wire cutters work fine for this. \u00a0Take 3 sections and glue them to make the &#8220;tank trap&#8221; shape show in the picture above.<\/p>\n<p>Glue 2 of the tank traps to each base. \u00a0Prime and paint the base and tank traps. \u00a0Put your basing material on the base.<\/p>\n<p>Once the whole thing is painted and based, glue on the barbed wire. \u00a0Paint some rust \/ blood on it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 24px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/barbed_wire_single.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-405\" title=\"Wargame barbed wire\" alt=\"wargame barbed wire\" src=\"http:\/\/tabletop.magigames.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/barbed_wire_single.jpg\" width=\"900\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>There ya go. Cheap and easy. \u00a0Fairly quick, too.<\/p>\n<p>I use these to play <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gruntz.biz\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gruntz<\/a>, and I make them impassable to vehicles, and infantry has to stop, and take an extra action to cross them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I made some barbed wire barriers, and it was pretty easy.
